MUTUK

Kohol Iornem is a past President of The Mzough U Tiv (UK) Benevolent Society (MUTUK) (2019-2023), and members of the Tiv Community in the United Kingdom and Nigeria have highly commended his exemplary leadership.

Kohol was the elected Vice President of MUTUK (2017-2019). As Vice President, he led the highly publicized and successful London Protest to the Nigeria High Commission, and to No. 10 Downing Street to deliver a petition against the killings of Benue citizens by the Fulani Herdsmen. The appeal led to the British Government writing to Kohol assuring him that they were concerned about the massacres and were engaging with the Federal Government in finding a lasting solution.

MUTUK is recognised under the United Kingdom’s Friendly Societies Act of 1974, registration number 107BEN. The Tiv community in the United Kingdom have collectively been functioning under the umbrella name of Mzough U Tiv (UK) Benevolent Society since 1990.

One of the many objectives of the society as enshrined in her Constitution include helping and ensuring furtherance and continuity of our culture and heritage and to promote unity and cooperation amongst our members who are descendants of Tiv, the fourth largest ethnic group in Nigeria.

MUTUK is actively involved in promoting and developing the social, moral and cultural life of the Tiv community in the United Kingdom, maintaining their social welfare and organising mutual help and succour to those in need.

MENROI RURAL PRIORITY FOUNDATION

In 2018, Kohol established a charity, Menroi Rural Priority Foundation, to help alleviate poverty and advance social and economic conditions of the less privileged in Nigeria. His focus is more on grassroots development projects in education; health, water and sanitation; business and innovation; and vulnerable households.

MZEHEMEN U TIV

Kohol is deeply passionate about advancing the Tiv language, culture, and people. As a result, he established the Mzehemen U Tiv Foundation in 2019. “Mzehemen u Tiv” literary means “the progress of the Tiv nation”. Kohol seeks to actualize this objective by collaborating with academics and industry experts by organizing workshops and symposiums to discuss solutions to the many challenges facing the Tiv nation.

Executive Education and Training

The programmes consist of presentations by scholars and practitioners on major business and leadership themes. The purpose is to impact on decision makers by interacting with them.
